“It was fun and crazy and there were lots of people. It was interesting to just stand by the door and watch the reaction of people when they saw the facility,” said Dan Kehl, chief executive officer of Kehl Management, which operates the investor-owned casino

Things have calmed down since that launch and now the work in hand is to build a constant base of customers. What is evident is that 80 % of the casino guests are from out-of-state areas like S Dakota, Minnesota, and the Sioux Falls area. However there is now a much  bigger trend for 30 something weekends, who stay late to enjoy themselves.

This casino complex was approved last year and is on track to generate between $70 and $80 million in casino revenue per year, so the early forecast is looking good. “It’s a very nice facility, and it seems to be well received so far,” Ketterer said.

Casino news in Las Vegas is all about a new hot spot to play the slots and throw the dice.

The Plaza Hotel and Casino in downtown Las Vegas has reopened after an eyepopping $35 million renovation.

The hotel will start accepting hotel guests on 1^st September, but the plush casino will be open for business in August. The 1,037 roomed hotel was closed last November so this massive refurbishment, which included an extensive overhaul of the lobby and casino floor, could be done. Interestingly many of the marble floors, leather desks and carpet accents were snapped up from the ill fated Fontainbleau Las Vegas on the strip as work on this project was suspended.

Another Vegas Casino Resort, The Palms said on Tuesday that it was teaming up with private investors to help reduce its mounting debt.

The Palms Chairman George Maloof said that the casino was working with TPG Opportunities Partners and Leonard Green & Partners to help strengthen the balance sheet, as the Maloof family were facing financial difficulties.

Leonard Green & Partners are a private equity firm and TPG Opportunities Partners are a subsidiary of TPG Capital who is the main investor of Caesars Entertainment Corp. There are no details of the terms of the deal.

In truth, Las Vegas has been hit hard by lower consumer spending so many hotels have been dropping their room prices to cope with fewer visitors who are gambling less and spending less on other entertainment.
